Application for Military Skills Development System (MSDS) β 2027
BACKGROUND
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) offers the Military Skills Development System (MSDS), a two-year contract programme.
- During the first year, recruits undergo initial military training followed by specialised functional training within their respective Services.
- During the second year, members are deployed to various Units where they apply their knowledge, develop leadership qualities, and enhance practical skills in a professional military environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen (No dual citizenship)
- Be 18β22 years old (Grade 12 applicants)
- Be 18β26 years old for applicants with a 3-year tertiary qualification
- Have an Admission Point Score (APS) of 18 and above, excluding Life Orientation
- Have no criminal record or pending cases
- Meet medical fitness requirements
- Be willing to undergo drug testing, psychometric assessment, and medical evaluation
- Have no visible tattoos when wearing uniform (subject to body inspection)
