Overview
We are seeking a professional and safety-conscious Truck Driver to handle the secure loading, transportation, and off-loading of goods in line with company standards. This role requires strict adherence to schedules, road safety regulations, and operational guidelines to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. The ideal candidate will also perform routine vehicle checks, maintain compliance with road laws, and deliver exceptional customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a professional truck driver.
  • Experience in loading, securing, and unloading cargo.
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Basic mechanical skills for inspections and minor maintenance.
  • Ability to operate GPS systems and follow planned routes.
  • Understanding of fatigue management and driver wellness.
  • Experience in logistics, fleet management, or transport industry (advantageous).

  • Strong attention to detail for documentation and reporting.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Load Management:

  • Comply with load weight limits and standards.
  • Inspect cargo for safety before loading.
  • Secure loads to prevent shifting or damage.
  • Conduct walk-around checks before departure.

2. Route Adherence:

  • Follow assigned travel routes.
  • Report any route changes, delays, or incidents.
  • Comply with all traffic laws and road safety regulations.

3. Trip Management:

  • Manage diesel refuelling and monitor fuel usage.
  • Keep to scheduled stops and avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Report violations, incidents, or accidents promptly.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and job cards.

4. Vehicle Maintenance & Inspections:

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and ad-hoc inspections.
  • Check tyres, brakes, mirrors, lights, and suspension.
  • Report mechanical issues for repairs.
  • Keep truck and trailers clean and presentable.

5. Safety & Compliance:

  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Follow all safe working practices.
  • Monitor and manage fatigue levels.
  • Adhere to company health policies, including chronic condition management.
