Requirements:

  • Grade 10 qualification.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience in driving or messenger services.
  • A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of driving services and vehicle operation.
  • Basic understanding of policies, procedures, government regulations, practice notes, circulars, and policy frameworks.
  • Basic financial management knowledge, including PFMA.
  • Ability to read and write (basic literacy).
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures, as well as analytical methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer focus, accountability, and ethical conduct.
  • Good communication skills.

Duties:

  • Operate and maintain light motor vehicles.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of vehicles, including logbook maintenance and safe storage.
  • Collect and deliver documents, including papers from government printing.
  • Transport officials to various destinations as required.
  • Conduct inspections and cleaning of pool vehicles.

Shortlisting & Checks:

  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo suitability checks, including SAQA verification, reference, criminal, and credit checks.
  • Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation certificate (for shortlisted candidates only).
  • For SMS (Senior Management Services) posts: shortlisted candidates will be subjected to technical and competency assessments. A pre-entry certificate from the National School of Government is required before appointment.
  • SMS candidates will also be required to complete a financial disclosure form and undergo security clearance.
  • Foreign nationals or dual citizens must provide a police clearance certificate from their country of origin (only if shortlisted).
