Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient driving services to the UN Women Country Representative, visiting officials, and other UN staff. The role requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with individuals of diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

The driver may also be required to support other operational or programmatic activities, including logistics and administrative duties.


Key Responsibilities

1. Reliable and Secure Driving Services

  • Safely transport the Country Representative, UN Women personnel, visitors, and VIP missions.
  • Deliver and collect official documents, mail, and items from government offices, embassies, and UN agencies.
  • Meet and assist official personnel at airports, including customs and visa arrangements when needed.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and follow security protocols.
  • Take immediate action in line with UN Women procedures in case of an accident.
  • Ensure vehicles comply with UN safety and security standards.

2. Proper Use and Maintenance of Vehicles

  • Drive responsibly to promote cost efficiency and fuel economy.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, servicing, and repairs.
  • Track and report on vehicle maintenance plans.
  • Keep vehicles clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.
  • Conduct routine checks on tires, brakes, lights, oil, and other essential systems.
  • Arrange for servicing and repairs as required.

3. Document and Supply Management

  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle documentation such as insurance, registration, and logbooks.
  • Ensure the vehicle contains essential items including a city map, office directory, first aid kit, and spare parts.
  • Comply with all procedures in case of an accident or emergency.

4. Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Assist with general office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and distributing documents.
  • Support staff with local deliveries, payments, or logistics as needed.
  • Perform other related duties to ensure smooth office operations.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education required
  • Valid driver’s license essential

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a professional driver, preferably within the UN system, international organizations, or embassies
  • Proven record of safe driving

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required
