About the Role

Universal Paper and Plastics is seeking a hardworking and reliable General Worker/Forklift Driver to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for general warehouse duties including housekeeping, pallet repairs, repacking, and loading export trucks, while also supporting warehouse operations when required.

Key Responsibilities

Pallet Repairs

• Conduct daily pallet counts to identify damaged and usable pallets.
• Sort and repair wooden pallets using appropriate hand tools.
• Ensure repaired pallets are ready for dispatch to the pallet bank.
• Maintain a clean and organized pallet repair area and pallet bank.

Housekeeping

• Perform cleaning duties as directed by the Senior Inventory & Operations Team Leader.
• Operate the floor scrubber to keep warehouse floors clean and safe.
• Use cleaning tools to remove dust and cobwebs from warehouse areas.
• Empty bins regularly to maintain cleanliness and order.

General Warehouse Support

• Assist Warehouse Associates with stock put-away and cycle counts.
• Help with general and ad hoc tasks as requested.
• Support daily warehouse operations to ensure smooth workflow.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good understanding of warehouse and distribution operations (inbound and outbound).
• Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Fluent in English (read, write, and speak).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Takes pride in work and maintains high-quality standards.
• Willingness to work overtime and shifts as required.
• Resilient and able to perform under pressure.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Valid Forklift Operator’s License.

• Flexibility to work overtime and shifts when needed.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
