Requirements:
A minimum of an ABET qualification or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 4. No prior experience is required. A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of clerical duties and administrative practices. Ability to capture data, operate computers, and compile statistics. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Teams). Knowledge of office administration, the Public Service legislative framework, and Batho Pele principles. Strong communication (verbal and written), problem-solving, and public relations skills. Good organizational, planning, analytical, and report-writing abilities. Additional competencies include typing, customer service orientation, self-management, motivation, creativity, teamwork, assertiveness, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
Note: Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a pre-entry practical assessment to evaluate technical and generic competencies for the position.
Duties:
Provide administrative and operational support to Judges and the courtroom. Escort members of the bench to and from court and accompany Judges to chambers. Maintain order and decorum in the courtroom before, during, and after sessions. Coordinate with court personnel regarding daily schedules and starting times in accordance with the court roll. Verify the accuracy of motion court rolls, prepare and distribute copies as required.
Manage courtroom records by organizing, checking, and filing both criminal and civil case files. Report missing files and ensure proper archiving of documents and registers. Assist in the efficient scheduling and coordination of court matters, including allocation of courtrooms during shortages. Collect, sort, safeguard, and circulate court files and rolls as needed.
