REGISTRY CLERK: PRODUCTION – REF NO: SANAD/01/40/25/04

Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)
Centre: SA Naval Armament Depot, Simon’s Town, Cape Town


Requirements:
A Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification. No prior experience required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Good telephone etiquette and typing skills.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • High level of reliability, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of registry procedures, document storage, and retrieval processes.
  • Understanding of DOD policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and directives.
  • Familiarity with information management systems and transcription processes.

Duties:
The successful candidate will provide registry and administrative support to ensure effective document and information management within the unit.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing registry counter services and handling incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Ensuring the accurate receipt, distribution, and dispatch of mail and files.
  • Maintaining and administering archives and structured filing systems in line with records management and archival policies.
  • Processing documents for archiving and disposal according to approved procedures.
  • Providing general administrative support, including drafting routine correspondence, circulars, and notices.
  • Updating and amending codes, directives, and related documents.
  • Operating office machines to support daily administrative tasks.
  • Monitoring compliance with records management policies and ensuring the safekeeping and accessibility of documents.
  • Assisting with internal audits, inspections, and other registry-related activities.
  • Performing general office duties to support efficient workflow and information management within the unit.

This position requires a detail-oriented and organised individual capable of handling multiple administrative and registry-related responsibilities in a professional and confidential manner.
