Salary:
- Grade A: R243 597 per annum

Location: Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory
Requirements:
- Qualification: Valid Trade Test Certificate in Welding.
- Experience:
- Grade A: No experience required.
- Grade B: Minimum of 18 years relevant experience after obtaining the Trade Test Certificate.
- Grade C: Minimum of 34 years relevant experience after obtaining the Trade Test Certificate.
- Inherent Job Requirements:
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to work overtime, standby, and attend to after-hours emergency repairs.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques (ARC, MIG, TIG, and gas).
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
- Understanding of fabrication and metal finishing.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, with good planning and prioritisation abilities.
Duties:
- Provide support and guidance to Artisan Assistants and Apprentices.
- Adhere to safety standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Complete job cards, requisitions, and maintenance reports.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and ensure workshop cleanliness.
- Assist with mechanical installations and modifications.
- Manufacture, repair, and maintain metal structures, brackets, frames, and components.
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on hospital equipment, infrastructure, and plant systems.
