Job Overview
The Packhouse Assistant is responsible for the systematic packing of finished explosive products to ensure safety, security, and compliance with required standards. The role includes weighing and labelling boxes accurately, ensuring all specified product information is clearly displayed.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- One-year certificate in a relevant production-related field
Experience
- At least 1 year of proven experience in assembling and packaging explosive accessories within an assembly-line environment
- At least 1 year of experience applying occupational health and safety standards in an explosives setting
Key Responsibilities
- Pack finished products into boxes in the correct quantities
- Weigh and label boxes accurately according to specifications
- Ensure all packed units are safe, secure, and compliant with safety requirements
- Maintain high housekeeping standards at all times
- Work in full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Explosives Act
- Achieve daily production targets
- Ensure continuous availability of raw materials and components
- Prepare boxes by applying glue, folding, and sealing with tape
- Confirm correct product counts per box and apply matching labels as per specifications
- Close, pack, palletise, and shrink-wrap boxes appropriately
- Ensure correct transfer documentation is attached when finished products are moved to the magazine
