Job Purpose

To ensure the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of Kuyakhanya staff, programme materials, and nutrition supplies between the Port Shepstone Office, Kuyakhanya Playhouse, and Community Playhouse facilities. The role supports operational efficiency, safety, and compliance to enable smooth programme implementation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Transport Kuyakhanya personnel and programme materials safely and punctually, in line with traffic laws and organisational policies
  • Handle, load, offload, and deliver nutrition supplies accurately to designated facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements
  • Complete all delivery and vehicle-related documentation accurately and within required timeframes
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report defects promptly, and coordinate repairs with relevant personnel to avoid disruptions
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to minimise delays, fuel consumption, and operational costs
  • Adhere strictly to road safety regulations and organisational driving guidelines
  • Collaborate with supervisors, colleagues, and field teams to resolve transportation challenges and maintain workflow continuity
  • Maintain accurate trip logs and fuel records to support effective resource management
  • Identify potential transport risks, including poor road conditions, and report accidents or incidents promptly
  • Provide consistent, reliable transport services to meet programme and field team needs

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent

Experience:

  • 2–3 years’ professional driving experience
  • Valid South African driver’s licence
  • Basic understanding of vehicle inspections and common mechanical issues
  • Experience using GPS systems and planning routes
  • Knowledge of South African traffic laws and regulations
