About the Learnership
An exciting opportunity is available for unemployed South African youth to join a Maintenance Learnership Programme based in Prospecton, Durban. This programme is designed for individuals who are eager to build a solid foundation in manufacturing and maintenance operations while gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace experience.
This learnership forms part of a structured development initiative aimed at equipping learners with essential technical skills, workplace readiness, and safety awareness required within an industrial and production environment. Successful learners will work under supervision and receive hands-on exposure to real manufacturing processes.
Upon successful completion of the programme, learners will achieve an NQF Level 3 certification, enhancing their employability within the manufacturing, engineering, and technical sectors.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this learnership is to develop entry-level maintenance and production skills by exposing learners to various aspects of manufacturing operations. Learners will be trained to work safely, efficiently, and collaboratively within a production environment while following established procedures and quality standards.
Training Areas Covered
During the learnership programme, incumbents will receive training in the following key areas:
- Working effectively as part of a team
- Occupational health and safety practices
- Safe use of hand tools
- Assembly and manufacturing drawings
- Marking-off techniques
- Basic welding principles
- Operating and monitoring production machinery
- Surface preparation techniques
- Basic fire-fighting and emergency response
- Production operations and dispatching of finished products
This comprehensive training ensures learners gain a well-rounded understanding of manufacturing and maintenance processes.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- National Technical Certificate (N3 โ N6)
OR - Matric / Technical Matric with:
- Mathematics and Physical Science or
- Engineering Science
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Mechanical Trade Theory
- Motor Trade Theory
- Mechanical Drawing
- Graphical Design
Applicants must be currently unemployed and willing to commit to the full duration of the learnership.
