Introduction
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, through ERI Logistics Services, is seeking two experienced Heavy Duty Drivers to join its logistics operations at the Koeberg Power Station. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation of goods, equipment, and abnormal loads in a high-risk, safety-driven environment.
The successful candidates will be responsible for operating heavy-duty and abnormal load vehicles while strictly adhering to road traffic legislation, occupational health and safety standards, and Eskom’s quality and safety systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Vehicle Operations & Maintenance
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and ensure roadworthiness at all times
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and promptly report mechanical defects
- Ensure vehicles, cranes, and equipment are used safely and correctly
Loading, Transport & Delivery
- Load and offload goods, equipment, and materials in accordance with safety procedures
- Transport and deliver cargo efficiently while maintaining strict compliance with regulations
- Operate inter-link, abnormal load tractors, and hydraulic truck-mounted cranes
- Execute crane movements safely using approved hand signals
Compliance & Safety
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including alcohol and drug abuse regulations
- Adhere to the Road Traffic Act, including speed limits, reckless driving laws, and DUI regulations
- Identify and report hazardous conditions and unsafe practices
- Maintain accurate transport documentation and delivery records

Knowledge Requirements
- Defensive driving (in-house evaluation by appointed logistics personnel)
- Occupational Health and Safety legislation
- Road Traffic Act and abnormal load regulations
- Hazard identification and risk awareness
- Crane hand signals and crane movement execution
- Quality management and safety systems

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Valid, unendorsed Code 14 Driver’s Licence
- Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP)
- Relevant Crane Driving Qualification
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience driving inter-link or abnormal load vehicles
- At least 2 years’ experience operating other heavy-duty vehicles
- Proven experience with hydraulic truck-mounted cranes
- Experience driving abnormal load tractors, both solo and in multi-tractor applications
