🎯 Purpose of the Role
To safely operate process equipment and systems at the Komatipoort Compressor Station to meet production targets while maintaining full compliance with safety and legal standards.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant processes under normal and emergency conditions
- Perform start-ups and shutdowns according to SOPs
- Conduct plant inspections (valves, pumps, vessels, etc.)
- Perform sampling for quality testing and fault finding
- Identify and correct abnormal plant conditions
- Commission and decommission equipment (projects & maintenance)
- Load and off-load hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
- Adhere strictly to SHERQ and legal requirements
- Execute Permit to Work (PtW) procedures and issue permits when required
- Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations
- Maintain log sheets and shift handover reports
- Participate in emergency response and safety exercises
- Provide on-the-job coaching and support learners
- Work 12-hour shifts and overtime when required
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Education (Mandatory):
- Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English or N3
- NQF Level 4 Certificate in Chemical Operations
- Valid Driver’s License (Code 08 minimum)
Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in a similar plant environment
- Permit to Work (PtW) issuing competency
- Safety Standby & Gas Monitoring experience
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Computer literacy
- Experience using basic hand tools
