🎯 Purpose of the Role

To safely operate process equipment and systems at the Komatipoort Compressor Station to meet production targets while maintaining full compliance with safety and legal standards.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Operate plant processes under normal and emergency conditions
  • Perform start-ups and shutdowns according to SOPs
  • Conduct plant inspections (valves, pumps, vessels, etc.)
  • Perform sampling for quality testing and fault finding
  • Identify and correct abnormal plant conditions
  • Commission and decommission equipment (projects & maintenance)
  • Load and off-load hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals
  • Adhere strictly to SHERQ and legal requirements
  • Execute Permit to Work (PtW) procedures and issue permits when required
  • Conduct risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Maintain log sheets and shift handover reports
  • Participate in emergency response and safety exercises
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and support learners
  • Work 12-hour shifts and overtime when required

🎓 Minimum Requirements

Education (Mandatory):

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics, Science & English or N3
  • NQF Level 4 Certificate in Chemical Operations
  • Valid Driver’s License (Code 08 minimum)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in a similar plant environment
  • Permit to Work (PtW) issuing competency
  • Safety Standby & Gas Monitoring experience
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience using basic hand tools
