The Engineering Unit – South Region, Roads and Stormwater Maintenance (Folweni Depot) is looking for a committed and safety-conscious Heavy Plant Operator to support critical infrastructure operations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our roads and stormwater systems are safe, functional, and resilient.


What You’ll Do

  • Operate heavy-duty vehicles (e.g., tip trucks, crane trucks, low bed trailers).
  • Transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from work sites.
  • Perform pre- and post-assignment checks and complete all required documentation (e.g., tally sheets, vehicle logs).
  • Carry out road and stormwater maintenance operations safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate and coordinate with site supervisors and artisans.
  • Manage materials handling and offloading as per work requirements.

What You’ll Need

Essential Requirements:

  • Secondary education (Grade 10 minimum).
  • Valid EC Driver’s License with PrDP.
  • Certified in operating truck-mounted cranes and heavy plant machinery.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • 3 years of related experience.

Work Conditions

  • Must be available to work in all weather conditions.
