Purpose of the Role
Fraser Alexander Zimbabwe is offering an exciting opportunity for a General Hand at our SMC site. This role is key to supporting operational efficiency and excellence by ensuring that site-specific targets are met on time, safely, and to the highest standards. The position also involves maintaining good housekeeping practices and contributing positively to team operations.
Key Responsibilities
🛠️ Operational Duties
- Ensure punctual attendance and effective shift handovers.
- Conduct valve operations – open/close valves and deposition open ends.
- Assist with penstock operations: wall dressing, packing, closing holes/gullies.
- Support installations: pipes, catwalks, platforms, freeboard poles, berm penstocks.
- Carry out any related tasks as directed by an authorised supervisor.
🦺 Health & Safety
- Always wear appropriate PPE for tasks.
- Attend and participate in daily safety talks.
- Report any unsafe conditions or actions immediately.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and maintain emergency readiness.
🔍 Basic Inspections
- Inspect pump stations and promptly report leaks or spillages.
- Monitor and report issues with pressure gauges.
🧹 Housekeeping
- Maintain cleanliness around pumps, valves, and trenches.
- Remove vegetation and maintain catchment areas and solution trenches.
- Assist with issuing of materials from stores.
⏱️ Timekeeping
- Accurately report time and adhere to schedules.
Minimum Requirements
🎓 Qualifications
- Minimum of three Ordinary Level subjects, including English.
🧑🔧 Experience
- No prior experience required (on-site training provided).
- Advantageous: Experience in deposition or hydro sluicing.
- Must be medically fit according to company standards.
