About the Role

The Department of Economic Development is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Officer to enhance service delivery improvement. This role involves monitoring, evaluating, and supporting service excellence initiatives across business units and regions.

Minimum Requirements

βœ… Qualifications: National Diploma/Degree in Public Administration/Management, or Social Sciences (NQF Level 6/7 as recognized by SAQA)
βœ… Experience: 1-2 years in administration, programme, or project management
βœ… Driver’s License: Code 8/10

Key Responsibilities

1. Service Delivery Monitoring & Reporting

  • Communicate deadlines for submission of Service Delivery Improvement Plans (SDIPs) and quarterly reports.
  • Consolidate and evaluate quarterly reports from business units and regions.
  • Develop and submit final SDIPs and reports for analysis and implementation.

2. Site Visits & Compliance Monitoring

  • Develop a schedule for planned and surprise visits to service points.
  • Arrange appointments with relevant business units.
  • Participate in monitoring visits, take notes, and compile reports on findings.
  • Ensure staff compliance with name tag usage and telephone etiquette across offices.

3. Service Excellence Initiatives

  • Compile reports on Batho Pele Programmes with recommendations for improvements.
  • Facilitate nominations for Service Excellence Awards and other recognition programs.
  • Organize and support the participation of SMS members in Khaedu, Public Month, and Africa Day initiatives.

4. Administrative & Logistical Support

  • Provide administrative support to the panel of assessors for the Service Excellence Awards.
  • Maintain records of expenditure commitments.
  • Coordinate workshops and roadshows, including invitations, manuals, and logistical arrangements.
  • Record minutes, communicate decisions, and track progress on key initiatives.
