Job Purpose
The Administrator will support the Manager of the Geochem Admin Department by overseeing administrative operations and maintaining effective communication with customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Print and email test reports to clients
- Invoice completed work according to agreed rates
- Handle general administrative duties such as filing, copying, preparing customised reporting templates, reconciliations, and updating spreadsheets
- Monitor outstanding work and liaise with the laboratory regarding expected reporting timelines
- Assist the Section Manager with contract reviews and proposal preparation
- Coordinate and resolve customer queries
- Capture results in SLIM G6 when required
- Perform general laboratory-related tasks within skill and qualification level
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Maintain confidentiality in all relevant communication
- Comply with the SGS Quality Management System (ISO17025 and SANAS)
- Participate in Operational Integrity projects and campaigns
- Apply the Check Status process and Stop Work Authority when risks are unclear
- Perform additional reasonable tasks assigned by the line manager
Qualifications:
Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric or N3 with Mathematics and Science
- Relevant laboratory knowledge or experience may be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning
- A National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry is an added advantage
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an administrative role
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office essential)
- Laboratory experience will be beneficial
