The City of Cape Town is offering an exciting Apprenticeship Programme within the Directorate: Energy. If you are passionate about electricity, eager to gain hands-on technical experience, and ready to build a career in the heavy current electrical field, this opportunity is for you!
This programme is designed to develop skilled professionals through structured training and practical exposure in the electrical environment.
✅ Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have ONE of the following qualifications:
- NTC 3 Technical Qualification
(Electrical Trade Theory, Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics or any other Heavy Current stream subject) with Matric,
OR
- Technical Matric (Grade 12) with:
- English
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Mathematics
- Physical Science
- Any other relevant subject
OR
- Full NCV Level 4 Electrical (with 7 subjects)
🚗 Additional Requirements
- Must reside within the City of Cape Town Metropolitan area
- Valid driver’s licence (Code C1 – old Code 10 – recommended)
- Must not have qualified in any trade before programme commencement
- Must not possess a National S Diploma qualification or higher
- A strong passion for the electrical trade

- Candidates with medical conditions that may negatively impact participation in the apprenticeship (e.g. epilepsy, colour blindness, etc.) will not be considered.
