Job Purpose
Rand Water is inviting suitably qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the Re-Advertised Artisan Assistant (Civil) position. The successful candidate will support the Carpenter/Artisan with daily operational duties across the depot and surrounding districts, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
The Artisan Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Assisting the Carpenter/Artisan with daily civil and carpentry-related tasks
- Performing minor repairs and general maintenance work
- Ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are used correctly and safely
- Cleaning and maintaining the workshop and work areas
- Supporting the production of high-quality workmanship in line with Rand Water standards
- Adhering to safety regulations, procedures, and housekeeping standards
- Working collaboratively with team members to meet operational goals
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or N3 qualification
- Basic knowledge of carpentry
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar working environment
Knowledge Requirements
- Understanding of occupational health and safety practices
- Knowledge of carpentry tools, machinery, and equipment
- Awareness of housekeeping and workshop cleanliness standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
