Contract Duration: 3-Year Fixed-Term Contract
Placement: Allocated according to provincial distribution
Salary: R193,359 per annum (plus 37% in lieu of benefits)

Minimum Requirements:
- Three-year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
- Valid Code B driver’s license
- No prior experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Knowledge of extension methodologies
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic report writing and public speaking skills
- Understanding of group dynamics and stakeholder engagement
- Willingness and ability to conduct on-site visits to farms or agricultural projects in assigned areas
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of general agricultural advisory services to clients
- Demonstrate sustainable farming techniques and efficient use of resources (soil, water, veld, finances, etc.)
- Assist with farm visits, impact assessments, and development of farm business plans
- Help organize farmer’s days, training, and information sessions
- Source technical input from specialists where needed
- Provide information on financial assistance options for clients
- Offer technical support for agricultural initiatives, food security programs, and land development projects
- Assist in mobilizing and organizing farmer groups, cooperatives, and training sessions
- Support capacity-building efforts and facilitate the creation or revival of agricultural projects and home gardens
- Promote collaboration with agricultural stakeholders and organized agriculture
- Assist in conducting extension surveys, problem identification, and needs analysis
- Keep an updated database of farmers in your operational area
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports
- Stay up to date with technological advances, industry trends, and departmental policies
- Ensure safe use and safekeeping of assets (where applicable)
- Perform general administrative tasks related to extension services
