Family & Role Overview
A warm and welcoming family in Hyde Park is looking for an au pair to assist with their two children, including a 13-month-old energetic toddler boy.
This is a full-time role (approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday), though actual working hours will be minimal. The mother is very hands-on and typically requires help 2–3 times per week for errands or when heading out. Most of the time, you’ll simply need to be available on call.
Occasional evening babysitting during weekdays or weekends may be required and is included in the working hours.
Travel Requirements
The family travels frequently, sometimes for 3–6 weeks at a time. You may not be required to travel every time, but when you do, your main duties will usually take place in the evenings, leaving mornings and afternoons mostly free.
- Accommodation: Live-out position (may occasionally share a room with the toddler during travel, depending on accommodation availability).
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the mother with childcare and daily errands.
- Provide age-appropriate stimulation and activities for the toddler.
- Support the family while travelling as needed.
- Maintain flexibility and reliability at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Mature, adaptable, and flexible personality.
- Must have a valid UK/EU passport or visa (due to frequent international travel).
- Experience with toddlers is essential.
- Start Date: Mid-November (first family trip scheduled for the end of November).
- Contract: Ongoing, full-time position.
Minimum Au Pair Extraordinaire Requirements
- At least 12 consecutive months of recent formal childcare experience (excluding friends/family care).
- Own, reliable vehicle with minimum 18 months driving experience.
- Two contactable childcare references.
- Clear criminal record.
- Matric certificate and valid South African ID.
- Passionate about working with children.
