At Curro, we believe in making a difference both inside and outside the classroom. We are seeking a reliable Bus Driver to join our Hazeldean campus team and help ensure the safe and efficient transportation of learners, while also assisting with general maintenance and facility support.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid Driver’s Licence (EC1 or C1 – heavy motor vehicle up to 16,000kg) and PDP.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Fluent in English.
- Experience in driving a school bus or similar role (advantageous).
- Must be punctual, reliable, energetic, helpful, and trustworthy.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Good communication skills (with learners, staff, and parents).
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Clear criminal record.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Transportation
- Drive learners along prescribed routes according to set schedules.
- Pick up and drop off learners at designated stops.
- Transport learners and staff on field trips, ensuring safe planning of routes and stops.
- Maintain order and discipline on the bus in line with school policies.
General Worker Duties
- Conduct daily maintenance checks on school facilities.
- Perform repairs (plumbing, maintenance, gardening, etc.) as required.
- Assist with security, access control, and traffic management.
- Maintain gardens and grounds (grass cutting, flower beds, cleaning).
- Report facility and garden consumable requirements to the facilities manager.
Health & Safety
- Carry out daily safety inspections of the vehicle.
- Report and assist with mechanical repairs when needed.
- Refuel and maintain vehicle fluids, tires, and batteries.
- Keep the vehicle clean and safe at all times.
- Participate in safety drills, first aid training, and related meetings.
Record Keeping
- Complete mileage logs, passenger counts, and other required reports.
