Are you a skilled visual storyteller with a passion for broadcast media?
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is seeking a dedicated Camera Operator (Captain) to join its Broadcast team. Youโll play a vital role in visually capturing key moments, supporting national communication efforts, and documenting high-profile events and operations.
๐ Minimum Requirements
- Citizenship: South African Citizen
- Education: Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or NC(V)
- Languages: Fluent in two official languages, including English
- Driverโs Licence: Valid light motor vehicle licence
- Other: No criminal record, no visible tattoos in uniform, security clearance required
๐ Additional Requirements
- A three-year Degree or Diploma in Television and Video Production (NQF level 6 or higher)
- Minimum 2 yearsโ experience in TV/broadcast production, including 1 year in a supervisory role
๐ฌ Key Responsibilities
- Operate professional broadcast video cameras and related equipment
- Capture and record high-quality footage for When Duty Calls and other SAPS broadcasts
- Film live SAPS events and sensitive operations using livestreaming and professional-grade technology
- Collaborate with producers to plan and execute compelling visual storytelling
- Maintain and manage video/audio equipment
- Work independently in the field and under pressure, including at crime scenes and during emergencies
- Ensure all footage meets technical and aesthetic broadcast standards
- Willingness to work overtime and travel nationally as needed
