Position Overview

National Renal Care is seeking a qualified, motivated, and patient-focused Care Worker to join the NRC Waterfall unit in Midrand. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the patient experience by attending to patients’ basic care needs while supporting the safe and effective operation of the dialysis service.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with basic numeracy and literacy skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar care role (preferred)
  • Experience in a renal or dialysis environment will be an advantage
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Customer-focused with a caring and professional approach
  • Team-oriented, energetic, and well organised
  • High standards of quality, ethical conduct, and integrity

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare dialysis machines before each patient session in accordance with NRC policies and standards
  • Test dialysis machine alarms prior to each session to ensure patient safety
  • Support the safe and efficient operation of the dialysis unit
  • Conduct routine generator checks (daily, weekly, and monthly), record technical issues, and refuel diesel as required
  • Comply with unit financial procedures, including stock control and waste management
  • Provide excellent patient care by ordering and serving meals according to prescribed dietary requirements
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in line with infection control and occupational health and safety standards
  • Remain informed of healthcare support functions within the unit and participate in continuous learning
  • Uphold and demonstrate National Renal Care values and the “Caring the NRC Way” approach
