Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification at NQF Level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent as recognised by SAQA.
  • A valid Code EC/EC1 driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of the province and areas where duties will be performed.
  • Understanding of procedures for messenger functions and vehicle operation, including obtaining trip authorities, completing logbooks, refuelling, and arranging basic vehicle services (e.g., fixing flat tyres).
  • Familiarity with regulations for proper vehicle utilisation, maintenance, and storage.
  • Ability to operate a breakdown/towing vehicle effectively.

Duties:

  • Transport departmental officials to various destinations.
  • Inspect and monitor the performance and condition of government vehicles.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the allocated vehicle and report any defects promptly.
  • Attend to vehicle breakdowns and tow vehicles to designated repair workshops.
  • Maintain and complete all required records, including vehicle logbooks and delivery documentation.
  • Provide general clerical and messenger support within the Provincial Office.
  • Collect and deliver departmental documents and related items as required.

Important Application Information

  • Hand-delivered applications are acceptable and must be submitted on the new Z83 Application Form, available from any government department or downloadable from www.gov.za, www.dpsa.gov.za, or www.labour.gov.za.
  • The Z83 form must be fully completed and signed.

Guidelines for Completing the Z83 Form:

  • Complete Parts A, C, and D in full.
  • In Part B, all fields must be completed except:
    • South African applicants need not provide passport numbers.
    • If you answered “No” to questions about conducting business with the State, you may leave the related fields blank.
    • If your profession requires official registration and you do not possess it, you may leave that section blank.
  • For Parts E, F, and G, it is acceptable to write “Refer to CV” provided that the attached CV contains all required information. Missing information may result in disqualification.
  • The CV serves as an extension of the Z83 form, and applicants are responsible for its accuracy.
  • All questions relating to conditions preventing re-appointment (Part F) must be answered.
  • Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure evaluation by SAQA and provide proof.

Do not submit certified copies of qualifications, ID, driver’s license, or professional registration at the application stage. Only a completed Z83 form and a detailed CV are required.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to:

  • Attend interviews.
  • Submit certified copies of all qualifications, ID, and driver’s license (if required).
  • Undertake two pre-entry assessments: one practical and one integrity (ethical conduct) test in line with the Directive on Human Resource Management and Development for Public Service Professionalization (effective 1 April 2024).
  • Undergo security vetting in accordance with the same directive.

Applicants must comply with the Practice Note on the Z83, as detailed in DPSA Circular 19 of 2022, DPSA Circular 3 of 2025, and related guidelines.
