DRIVER HEAVY DUTY: MAINTENANCE (Ref No: DPWI 44/08/2025)
Salary: R163 680 per annum (Level 03)
Location: Mount Frere Depot

Requirements:

• ABET Level 4 or Grade 10 (Grade 12 will be an advantage).
• Code 10 / Code 14 / EC driver’s licence with valid PDP.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating heavy-duty vehicles.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle handling within a government framework.
• Strong conflict-handling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and as part of a team.
• Good organizational, planning, and customer service skills.
• Must be self-motivated, tactful, and discreet.
• Knowledge of Labour Relations processes and Batho Pele Principles.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, public holidays, and after-hours.
• Prepared to undergo driver testing and medical surveillance as required.

Key Duties:

• Transport staff, documents, goods, and materials to assigned destinations.
• Conduct daily checks on vehicles (fuel, oil, water, tyres) and complete inspection forms.
• Report and document dents, scratches, defects, or accidents immediately.
• Safeguard vehicle keys, tools, spare wheel, and equipment.
• Ensure vehicles are clean and in proper condition at the end of each shift.
• Maintain vehicle logbooks in line with legislation.
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and perform duties assigned by supervisors.
• Provide professional assistance and guidance when required.
• Adhere to PMDS requirements and departmental timelines.
