Purpose of the Role
Transnet Port Terminals seeks a skilled Port Mobile Equipment Driver to support cargo operations at the Richards Bay Multipurpose Terminal (MPT). The successful candidate will operate various heavy-duty mobile equipment to load, transport, and unload cargo safely and efficiently, minimizing damage and improving terminal productivity.
📌 Applicants residing within the King Cetshwayo district will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily equipment checks to ensure operational readiness.
- Log equipment defects and submit daily task sheets.
- Refuel and top up fluids on assigned machinery.
- Operate equipment such as:
- Articulated Vehicles
- Tractor/Trailer Combos
- Forklifts
- Payloaders
- Tip Trucks
- Follow safety and operating procedures strictly.
- Report incidents or accidents promptly.
- Change attachments as required to suit different cargo.
- Complete end-of-shift duties and equipment shutdown protocols.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Matric / NQF Level 4
✅ Code 14 (EC) Driver’s License
✅ Valid operator certificates for relevant machines (e.g. Dumper, Front-End Loader, Payloader)
✅ At least 2 years’ relevant experience in Port Operations, Maritime Services, or Warehouse Tallying
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of port operations and mobile terminal machinery
- Skilled in daily equipment checks, fault reporting, and safety protocols
- Experience handling different types of cargo and adapting equipment as needed
- Awareness of machine capacity and safe load handling procedures
