Job Purpose

The Driver will provide professional driving and administrative support to the Cluster, primarily to support the smooth onboarding of the new Head of Delegation (HoD), while also offering operational assistance under the supervision of the Senior Protocol and Logistics Officer.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate IFRC fleet vehicles to transport staff and goods, ensuring seatbelt compliance at all times
  • Ensure the security, cleanliness, refuelling, and roadworthiness of assigned vehicles
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and records, including fuel usage, repairs, spare keys, and equipment
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any issues to the supervisor
  • Comply with all traffic laws and regulations
  • Carry out minor vehicle repairs such as tyre changes, battery replacement, and oil changes
  • Report maintenance needs and follow up on scheduled servicing
  • Perform pre- and post-repair inspections and compile monthly service reports
  • Undertake additional technical or operational tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Secondary school qualification (tertiary education preferred)

Licences & Certification:

  • Valid South African driver’s licence
  • Public Driver’s Permit (PDP)
  • Valid certificate of good conduct

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Prior experience with international organisations, NGOs, or embassies is highly advantageous

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong computer literacy
  • Mechanical knowledge; first aid or security training is an advantage
  • Good understanding of Red Cross/Red Crescent operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage priorities
  • High attention to detail and sensitivity to diversity
