UCT TRANSPORT DRIVERS
(Payclass 05)
Department: Properties and Services – Transport Division

The University of Cape Town’s Properties and Services Department is seeking applications for the position of Transport Driver, available for appointment as soon as possible. This role involves transporting students, staff, and visitors between UCT campuses, residences, and shuttle stops. The successful candidate will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the passenger transport industry
• A valid South African Code C or EC driver’s license (unendorsed)
• A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
• Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
• Willingness to work on a shift basis

Added Advantage:

• Advanced driving certificate

Key Responsibilities:

• Transporting UCT students, staff, and visitors between campuses and residences according to the waybill schedule
• Applying defensive driving techniques at all times
• Maintaining vehicles in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition
• Ensuring compliance with National Road Traffic regulations
• Responding to and reporting emergency situations during shuttle operations
• Providing excellent face-to-face customer service
• Performing any other related duties as required

Remuneration:

The annual total cost of employment, including benefits, is between R244,979 and R288,206.
