Graduate Trainee – Travel
Purpose of the Role:
The primary objective of the Graduate Trainee Program is to facilitate the transition of graduates from academic settings to professional work environments. The program aims to develop well-rounded young professionals with strong career prospects and a positive future.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist in scheduling travel arrangements in accordance with the ECIC Travel Policy.
- Capture records of all travel undertaken within the organization and associated costs.
- Assist with the preparation of the travel budget and quarterly administration of travel contracts.
- Manage relationships with the appointed Travel Management Company and other service providers.
- Conduct travel analytics and prepare travel management reports.
- Review invoices against bookings and communicate travel details to travelers.
- Track travel spending against the budget and ensure timely processing of invoices.
- Safeguard and reconcile travel petty cash.
- Manage customer service issues related to travel in a timely manner.
- Conduct reviews of travel operations and policies to improve process efficiency and traveler experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Travel Management or a related field.
- Applicants must be unemployed South African citizens under the age of 35 who have not previously benefited from any internship program.

Financial Reporting Accountant
Purpose of the Role:
The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for preparing the financial reports of the organization and assisting the Head of Finance in supervising finance professionals, including graduate trainees.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare and file statutory returns (PROV TAX and ITR14).
- Review the audit file and prepare stakeholder reports.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Prepare corporate annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and ECIC’s accounting policies.
- Coordinate the audit process and liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Develop best practices, systems, and procedures to achieve business goals.
- Handle ad-hoc assignments as requested by the Head of Finance or CFO.

Deal Originator/Senior Deal Originator
Purpose of the Role:
The Deal Originator is responsible for generating deal flow and building a robust pipeline of prospective insurance/financial transactions for underwriting. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to assess complex financial transactions for their bankability and commercial viability. The incumbent will engage with stakeholders including financiers, government officials, corporate executives, and directors.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct market research to identify business opportunities that align with ECIC products.
- Develop a strong pipeline of quality projects/transactions through proactive business development.
- Map industry or sector opportunities to generate a list of prospects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, private businesses, banking partners, and government officials.
- Organize business initiatives to expand ECIC’s presence in various market segments and geographies.
- Review and analyze deal structures to assess ECIC’s risk appetite.
- Provide preliminary assessments of complex financial transactions and advise clients on potential risks.

Company Secretary
Background:
The Export Credit Insurance Corporation of South Africa SOC Ltd (ECIC) is a state-owned entity under the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition (the dtic). Established on 02 July 2001, ECIC’s mandate is to facilitate and encourage cross-border investments and South African export trade by underwriting bank loans, enabling South African contractors to win international contracts. The Corporation operates as a self-sustaining entity and is registered as a non-life insurer, regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Prudential Authority.
Purpose of the Role:
The Company Secretary will work closely with the Corporation’s Board of Directors, CEO, and Executives, providing guidance on board governance best practices and tailoring the governance framework to meet the needs of the Corporation and its shareholders.
Key Accountabilities:
- Guide the Board on their responsibilities and duties.
- Advise the Board on corporate governance and legislative changes.
- Develop and implement the Annual Board Work Plan and Calendar in liaison with the Board and Executive Committee.
- Draft agendas, coordinate meetings, and ensure proper recording of proceedings.
