👷♂️ Position Overview
An exciting entry-level opportunity exists for a Fitter Aide (TMM) to join the Engineering South team. The successful candidate will report to the Fitter or nominee and will assist in the maintenance and reliability of mining and plant equipment.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate
- Valid Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence
- Advantageous: Operative Course Certificate
🛠️ Experience (Advantageous)
- Minimum 3 months practical trade-related experience in a heavy industrial, mining, or plant environment
🔩 Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance, repairs, and modifications of mining equipment
- Support artisans during maintenance on engines, cylinders, gearboxes, pumps, tyres, and pulleys
- Perform tasks such as:
- Replacing hydraulic hoses
- Greasing machines
- Removing and replacing shanks
- Conduct mini risk assessments within own work area
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained at all times
- Clean, inspect, and store tools and equipment correctly
- Assist with breakdowns and planned maintenance to ensure production continuity
- Operate stationary and mobile engineering equipment when required
- Perform lock-out procedures and comply with SOPs
- Record and report defects to the Chargehand/Foreman

- Adhere strictly to Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) requirements
- Must be medically fit for mine work
