We’re looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented individual to serve as a Funeral Undertaker at our Pretoria Preparation Centre. If you have a heart for service and the professionalism to guide families through one of life’s most sensitive moments, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and coordinate funerals and cremations with dignity and care
- Prepare and care for the remains of the deceased (including embalming and confinement)
- Execute day-to-day mortuary operations
- Maintain funeral records in compliance with operational standards
- Ensure hygienic upkeep of the mortuary and funeral equipment
- Maintain and manage the funeral fleet
- Assist with repatriation and out-of-state funeral arrangements
- Prepare the deceased for viewings and support with collection logistics
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Valid driver’s license (held for at least 3 years)
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) – preferred
- 2–3 years’ experience in the funeral industry or conducting funerals
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion
