Job Description
Cashbuild Limited is seeking a General Assistant to deliver excellent customer service in-store. The role includes stock merchandising, accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining high housekeeping standards within the assigned area.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, or
- Grade 12 with no prior work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
- Valid South African ID or a valid work permit
- Basic numeracy skills
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Assist and advise customers on products and queries
- Handle and resolve customer complaints professionally
Merchandising
- Merchandise bulk stock safely in line with store layout plans
- Ensure assigned areas are fully stocked according to planograms
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and obstacle-free work area
- Merchandise stock promptly upon receipt
- Ensure correct shelf price labelling
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and ablution schedules
Health and Safety (OHSA Compliance)
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including the use of protective equipment
- Ensure racking and bulk stock are safely merchandised for customers and colleagues
- Report safety risks or discrepancies to the Store Manager
Stock Loss Control
- Report damaged or defective stock within the area of responsibility
