💼 About the Role
BME, a division of Omnia, is seeking a dedicated General Assistant (RoG) to support critical blast operations. In this hands-on role, you will assist truck operators in collecting and delivering explosive products, ensure housekeeping standards, and help maintain safety in high-risk environments.
You will work closely with the Blaster and mining teams to execute all tasks in line with statutory, legal, client, and company requirements — with no short cuts allowed.
🎓 Minimum Qualifications
- Grade 12 with Mathematics
- MQA Blasting Assistant Certificate
🧨 Required Experience
- 2 years’ experience as a Blasting Assistant
- Previous exposure to mining and blasting environments
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily risk assessments and safety declarations with the Blaster
- Assist in blast preparation and charge-up operations
- Mark out work areas with proper barricading
- Map and measure drill holes; report deviations
- Collect and place detonators and boosters as instructed
- Assist with priming blast holes under supervision
- Maintain vehicles and refill areas in good condition
