(College Council 3-year contract position, including a 12-month probation period)
Salary: R138 486 per annum (Level 02), plus 37% in lieu of benefits
Location: George Campus

Requirements

  • Grade 10 Certificate
  • 2–3 years of experience in a cleaning environment (preferably in schools, hostels, or educational facilities with multiple buildings) will be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene practices
  • Understanding of cleaning products and their proper use
  • Ability to operate various cleaning tools and equipment
  • Basic literacy and communication skills
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape

Duties

  • Clean classrooms, hostels, administration buildings, halls, corridors, and toilets
  • Sweep and clean allocated floors, windows, desks, and chairs before and after use
  • Maintain toilets by ensuring cleanliness, regular hygiene checks, and constant availability of supplies (handwash, toilet paper, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in all facilities for staff and students
  • Clean and sanitise OLC/Computer rooms before and after use; dust computers and desks
  • Arrange chairs and tables in classrooms and examination rooms as required
  • Clean staffrooms and kitchens, ensuring they remain hygienic throughout the day
  • Use and manage cleaning materials responsibly
  • Issue kitchen utensils when needed
  • Ensure efficient and proper usage of cleaning supplies for classrooms, boardrooms, and other areas
