About the Role
Starke Ayres, a leading African and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties, is looking for a General Worker to join the team in Kempton Park. This role supports all stages of plant cultivation and seed production.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with all plant cultivation stages, including seed sowing, seedling care, transplanting, emasculation, pollination, harvesting, and seed processing
• Count and package seeds
• Clean, soak, wash, and dry seedling trays
• Prepare seedling mix and fill trays and pots
• Move trays and pots between germination rooms, seedling houses, and greenhouses
• Connect irrigation drippers to planting pots
• Make planting holes and support planting activities in the field
• Prepare trellising ropes and attach them properly
• Identify flowers for emasculation and conduct pollination as guided by the breeder
• Harvest self-pollinated fruits and extract, wash, clean, and dry seeds
• Maintain greenhouse cleanliness and support trial harvesting activities

Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) – Essential
• Ability to perform tasks involving fine motor skills and repetitive hand movements
• Ability to sit frequently; occasional standing and walking
• Able to lift and move up to 10 lbs (approx. 4.5 kg) regularly
• Good hearing and full vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus)
• Comfortable working outdoors and exposed to changing weather conditions
