Temporary Position

Job Overview:
The City of Ekurhuleni is seeking motivated and hardworking individuals to join as General Workers on a temporary basis. This opportunity runs for six (6) consecutive months and offers a monthly stipend of R3,621.00.

Contract Details:

• Type: Temporary
• Duration: 6 months
• Location: Ekurhuleni, Gauteng
• Stipend: R3,621.00 per month

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 10 (or equivalent)
• Must be a South African citizen
• Reside within Ekurhuleni (Ward Number required)
• Currently unemployed
• Not participating in any City of Ekurhuleni Job Creation Programme
• Willing to learn and follow instructions from supervisors

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning, sweeping, grass cutting, planting, digging, refuse collection, and general site maintenance
• Assist in maintaining municipal infrastructure and assets
• Safely operate hand tools and small equipment under supervision
• Load and offload tools, materials, and equipment as required
• Ensure workplace safety and report hazards, faults, or unsafe conditions to supervisors
• Support municipal teams during clean-up drives, public events, or emergencies
• Work effectively with colleagues and municipal officials
• Carry out any general tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Important Information:

• Applicants currently involved in other job creation projects are not eligible until they have completed a six-month cooling-off period.
• Proof of NQF level may be requested for qualification verification.
