Overberg Water is a Water Board established in terms of Section 28 of the Water Services Act (No. 108 of 1997) and operates as a Government Business Enterprise in accordance with Schedule 3B of the Public Finance Management Act (No. 1 of 1999), as amended.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric and/or relevant training
- Valid, unendorsed Code B driver’s licence
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with statutory legislation
- Willingness to work shifts, standby duties, weekends, and public holidays
- Physically fit for manual work
- At least 6 months’ experience as a General Worker, preferably within water-related facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and communicate data from manual and electronic sources such as meters, gauges, and data loggers
- Assist with general maintenance, grounds keeping, and housekeeping of facilities
- Handle and transport water quality samples, chemicals, and heavy equipment or materials
- Complete work procedure documents, timesheets, stock sheets, log sheets, job cards, and related reports
- Assist with pipe bursts, reservoir cleaning, sediment tanks, and filter maintenance
- Clear and dispose of grass, sludge, reedbeds, and other waste materials
- Perform general cleaning and maintenance of purification plants, offices, and buildings
- Support basic building maintenance activities
- Maintain inventory of consumables required for operations and housekeeping
- Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions from supervisors in line with operational needs
- Safeguard plant assets at Public Works sites
- Comply with statutory and regulatory requirements related to water and wastewater facilities
- Travel or rotate between different sites as required by operational demands
