Position Overview
The Wireman is responsible for installing, connecting, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring and related systems within the Fire Division. The role requires strict adherence to technical drawings, electrical standards, and safety regulations to ensure the reliable and safe operation of all electrical components.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and connect electrical wiring, fixtures, control equipment, and associated components in line with approved plans and electrical codes.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Identify electrical faults and carry out repairs or component replacements where necessary.
- Ensure all installations and maintenance work comply with relevant local and national electrical regulations.
- Test wiring systems and circuits using appropriate measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and functional condition.
- Work independently or collaboratively to complete assigned projects within agreed timelines.
- Adhere to health and safety standards at all times, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Minimum Requirements
- High school certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g. NEC, IEC).
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials and work in restricted spaces.

Wiremen may operate in one or more of the following environments:
- Residential: Homes, flats, and residential complexes
- Commercial: Offices, retail centres, and commercial buildings
- Industrial: Factories, plants, and manufacturing facilities
Work Environment
- Work may be conducted both indoors and outdoors.
- Tasks may involve working at heights, in confined areas, or under varying weather conditions.
- Overtime or weekend work may be required depending on project demands.
