Overview

The Department of Defence invites applications for multiple Groundsman vacancies across various Army formations and support bases nationwide. These roles are ideal for individuals who are hardworking, physically fit, and have a basic understanding of gardening, maintenance, and general outdoor upkeep.


Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Minimum of ABET certificate (Adult Basic Education and Training).
  • Experience: No prior experience required.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Knowledge of gardening services, plants, and garden maintenance equipment.
    • Understanding of health and safety practices.
    • Physical ability to handle materials and operate light machinery.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
    • Good organizational skills and teamwork ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas.
  • Prepare soil and cultivate garden areas.
  • Plant and maintain flowers, trees, shrubs, and grass.
  • Remove weeds and alien vegetation.
  • Water lawns, gardens, and landscapes regularly.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of sidewalks, parking areas, fences, and public spaces.
  • Operate and maintain light gardening machinery such as lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws.
  • Perform pest control and assist in preparing grounds for events or parades.
  • Remove refuse and maintain cleanliness in all designated areas.
  • Inspect equipment and report faults or defects promptly.
