The Focus Group is seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to take responsibility for building maintenance operations. The successful candidate will handle preventative maintenance, conduct repairs, install equipment, and respond to tenant maintenance needs efficiently.
This role requires strong technical ability in electrical and plumbing maintenance, attention to detail, and excellent communication with property management teams.
π οΈ Key Responsibilities
Building Maintenance
- Complete assigned maintenance duties effectively and on time.
- Conduct continuous building inspections to identify maintenance needs.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to tenant requests.
- Inspect main doors (glass condition, proper opening/closing).
- Check building exteriors and identify problem areas.
- Replace and maintain lighting in:
- Toilets (ladies & gents)
- Foyers
- Passages
- Stairways
- Parking areas
- Offices
- External security lights
- Inspect and maintain toilet fittings (taps, basins, urinals, etc.).
- Check operational condition of:
- Air-conditioning plants
- Standby pumps
- Sump pumps
- Water tanks
- Water feature equipment
- Conduct visual inspections of electrical distribution boards.
- Perform necessary repairs or escalate major issues to the Property Services Manager or Residence Manager.
- Log repair needs and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Ensure premises are in satisfactory condition before tenant move-in.
π Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Additional training in maintenance infrastructure management (advantageous)
π· Experience & Knowledge Required
- Minimum 3 yearsβ related maintenance experience
- Practical experience in:
- Plumbing
- Electrical maintenance
- Basic understanding of maintenance functions and safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Basic computer literacy
