About the Role:
The Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) is seeking a skilled and dependable Handyman to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will ensure the ongoing maintenance and repair of our campus to support a safe, functional, and well-maintained working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
🔧 General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Paint buildings, carports, fences, and roofs
- Conduct carpentry tasks and repair office furniture
- Perform basic plumbing and maintain water systems
- Ensure cleanliness and usability of public and technical areas
- Assist with office moves and renovations
🧰 Equipment & Tool Care:
- Maintain and secure tools
- Report damaged or missing tools
- Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety regulations
🤝 Team Support:
- Collaborate with electricians and contractors
- Respond to urgent internal repair requests
- Monitor work done by service providers for quality and safety
Requirements:
✅ Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent
- At least 3 years’ experience in building, furniture, or equipment maintenance
🔧 Advantageous:
- Plumbing trade qualification
Skills & Attributes:
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong planning and organising skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Clear written and verbal communication
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Customer-focused and service-oriented
