About the Internship

Start your career journey with Komatsu Mining Corporation (KMC) through our one-year internship programme designed to provide real-world experience in a professional and supportive environment.

We’re seeking a BCom Honours graduate in Human Resources Management, with a major in Employment Relations, who is passionate about data protection and legal compliance. This role will offer critical exposure to compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and how it’s implemented across a global organisation.


Key Responsibilities

As an Intern – POPIA, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data protection policies and procedures in line with POPIA.
  • Supporting employee training and awareness initiatives on personal data protection and responsible data usage.
  • Participating in the response to personal data breaches by supporting containment, investigation, and resolution efforts.
  • Reviewing and updating internal data handling procedures to reflect compliance requirements.
  • Collaborating with IT and various departments to improve data reporting systems and reduce unnecessary sensitive data exposure.
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of internal audits focused on POPIA compliance across departments.

Minimum Requirements

  • BCom Honours in Human Resources Management
    (Major in Employment Relations)
  • Completion of all academic modules with eligibility for workplace exposure
  • South African citizen or legally permitted to work in South Africa
