Overview:
The City of Johannesburg is offering an internship opportunity in the Office of the Ombudsman. This program is intended to provide work-based training for students or recent graduates in fields such as Law, Public Administration, Political Science, or Human Rights. This position is available for a maximum duration of 18 months and is open to students residing in Johannesburg who have not previously participated in an internship program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the intake and initial assessment of complaints.
- Provide investigative support to ensure thorough examination of cases.
- Conduct research and analysis to support investigative findings.
- Prepare and maintain documentation and reports related to investigations.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather information and provide updates.
- Participate in awareness and outreach activities to promote the role of the Ombudsman.
- Ensure quality assurance and compliance with relevant procedures.
- Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, Human Rights, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Residency within the City of Johannesburg is required.
Compensation:
- For graduates (Qualification completed with a minimum of 360 credits): R9,531.54 per month (Basic salary, no benefits).
- For enrolled students: R3,500.00 per month (Basic salary, no benefits).
