Introduction

Triton Express, through the Triton Academy, is establishing a talent pool of potential learners for upcoming Freight Handling Learnership opportunities.

The Triton Academy is a TETA-accredited training provider, offering high-quality programs in Freight Handling and Professional Driving for both employees and unemployed youth. These programs are designed to build industry-relevant skills, equipping learners with the knowledge and hands-on experience required to excel in the logistics and transport sectors. Training takes place in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, with flexibility for additional customer-based training where possible.


Programme Overview

We are currently seeking motivated, committed, and ambitious individuals to join our 12-month National Certificate in Freight Handling Learnership. This opportunity aims to empower unemployed South African youth through a combination of classroom-based learning and on-the-job practical experience in the logistics industry.


Key Responsibilities (Training Activities)

  • Load and offload goods from vehicles.
  • Prepare vehicles for trips.
  • Handle receiving, dispatching, and freight documentation.
  • Perform general warehouse and transport-related duties.
  • Assist with delivery and collection of goods and stock.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces (general housekeeping).
  • Pick, pack, and verify stock accurately.
  • Receive and check incoming stock against delivery documents.
  • Stack and secure goods safely for transportation.

Learning & Development Components

  • Structured theoretical training aligned with industry unit standards.
  • Practical workplace experience under supervision and mentorship.
  • Preparation and assessment for external verification and certification.

Minimum Requirements

  • South African citizen.
  • Qualification: Grade 12 / TVET N3 / NQF Level 2 (minimum 40% in Maths and English).
  • Age: Between 23 and 35 years.
  • Medically fit for work.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Strong numerical ability.
  • Willing to work weekends and shifts.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Must reside in one of the following areas: Germiston, Alberton, Boksburg, or Johannesburg.
  • Working hours: 08:00 – 18:00.

Advantageous:

  • Own reliable transport.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Previous work experience.

Programme Details

  • Qualification: National Certificate in Freight Handling (NQF Level 3)
  • Duration: 12 months (Full-time learnership including theoretical and workplace components)
  • Monthly Stipend: R4 000
