About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Underground LHD Operator to join our dynamic mining team. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) equipment to move blasted ore and waste material within the mine. This includes loading trucks or transferring material to orepasses, re-muck bays, or designated storage areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate LHD machinery to load and transport blasted material.
- Position the machine effectively to minimize tyre damage and improve loading efficiency.
- Maintain clear and safe communication with Haul Truck Operators during operations.
- Conduct thorough pre-use inspections and complete equipment checklists.
- Identify and report any defects, risks, or unsafe conditions to the Supervisor promptly.
- Perform risk assessments for new loading areas before starting operations.
- Assist with basic maintenance and breakdown repairs when needed.
- Refuel, lubricate, and clean the equipment at the end of each shift.
- Comply with all safety procedures and work instructions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Underground LHD Operator’s License.
- Minimum of BGCSE or equivalent.
- At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating LHD equipment in an underground setting.
- Multi-skilled Operator certification and Heavy-Duty Driving License are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of underground mining practices.
- Able to operate effectively in confined spaces.
