Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective and efficient messenger and driving service
  • Deliver and collect official documents within and around the DDPP office
  • Collect and deliver mail from the post office
  • Open, register, and manage incoming parcels and correspondence
  • Record, sort, and distribute mail in accordance with the approved office file plan

Important Notes to Applicants

  • Applications must be submitted using the most recent Z83 application form, obtainable from any Public Service Department or from the DPSA website.
  • Applicants must submit a completed Z83 form and a comprehensive CV containing detailed work experience. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit certified copies of qualifications and supporting documents on or before the interview date, following communication from Human Resources.
  • Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report, which will be required only if the applicant is shortlisted.
  • All applications must be received by the NPA on or before the closing date. Late applications will not be accepted or processed.
  • Documents must not be password-protected, and ZIP files will not be accepted. The NPA cannot be held responsible for server delays.
  • The NPA uses an Electronic Response Handling System for emailed applications. Applicants are requested not to contact the NPA to confirm receipt of applications. If no acknowledgement is received within one week after the closing date, applicants may then contact the NPA.
  • The NPA reserves the right not to fill any advertised position.
  • If applicants do not receive feedback within six (6) months of the closing date, they should consider their application unsuccessful.

Selection and Appointment Process

  • Successful candidates will be subject to a security clearance of at least confidential level. Appointments will be provisional pending the outcome of the clearance process.
  • Fingerprints will be taken on the day of the interview.
  • The NPA may review the social media profiles of shortlisted candidates as part of the verification process.
  • A valid driver’s licence will be required where applicable.
  • All shortlisted candidates, including members of the Senior Management Service (SMS), will be required to complete two pre-entry assessments: a practical assessment and an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
  • SMS candidates will also undergo a technical assessment relevant to the post, the details of which will be communicated by the NPA.
  • Following interviews and assessments, recommended candidates will be required to complete a generic managerial competency-based assessment, in line with the DPSA Directive on competency-based assessments.
  • A Pre-Entry Certificate for SMS, obtained from the National School of Government (NSG), is mandatory for SMS applicants for Public Service Act positions in the NPA and must be submitted prior to appointment. NPA Act appointments are exempt from this requirement.
  • Applicants are advised that the new Z83 application form, effective from 1 January 2021, must be used. Applications submitted on the old Z83 form will not be considered.

Note: The NPA does not cover resettlement costs for successful applicants.
