About the Role
Join the dedicated Nutrition and Dietetics team at Tygerberg Hospital! We’re looking for a reliable, energetic Tube Feed Room Operator to support vital nutrition services across the hospital. This hands-on role ensures timely, safe preparation and delivery of nutritional products that support patient recovery.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) / Grade 9 (Std 7)
- Experience: Relevant experience in food preparation and/or cleaning procedures
- Inherent Requirements:
- Physically fit: must be able to handle heavy equipment and tasks (e.g. lifting boxes, pushing trollies)
- Willing to work shifts and overtime
- Available to stand in during staff absences
Key Competencies
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Good numerical ability
- Able to read recipes and follow preparation procedures
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work under supervision and independently
- High attention to hygiene and cleanliness
Duties Include
- Correct weighing, mixing, and labelling of tube feeds and special drinks
- Timely delivery of feeds to wards using heavy-duty trollies
- Daily cleaning of equipment and work areas
- Stock monitoring and rotation (FIFO)
- Collection and distribution of nutritional products across departments
- Support administrative and supervisory tasks as needed
- Maintain personal hygiene and professional standards
