Job Summary
The Picker is responsible for accurately selecting, packing, and preparing stock for dispatch within a warehouse or distribution centre. This role involves locating products, confirming correct quantities and item details, and ensuring orders are completed on time and in full. The position requires the use of material-handling equipment, including motorised pallet jacks, as well as manual picking when necessary. Strict adherence to safety, handling, and operational procedures is essential. The Picker also records stock movements, reports discrepancies, and maintains a clean and organised work environment to support efficient warehouse operations and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)

Experience:

• 1–2 years’ experience in a similar picking or warehouse role

Skills and General Requirements:

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work with a high level of accuracy
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and night shifts
• Ability to work in a cold storage environment

Equipment Operation:

• Competent in operating a motorised pallet jack (1.5-ton capacity)
• Able to safely manoeuvre and control motorised equipment
• Valid licence to operate a motorised pallet jack

Physical Requirements:

• Physically capable of operating a loaded and unloaded pallet jack
• Able to perform manual loose-case picking (approximately 4 kg per box)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurate picking, packing, and preparation of stock for dispatch
• Scanning items and capturing stock movement data
• Receiving, sorting, labelling, and reconciling stock
• Maintaining stock accuracy and a tidy, organised work area
• Supporting efficient dispatch operations through accurate order fulfilment
