Job Title: Security Officer (Ref No: REFS/023315)

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Certificate in CCTV/Control Room Operations.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in security and safety within the Public Health environment.
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email).
  • Knowledge of:
    • CCTV surveillance and access control systems.
    • Security and safety legislation, including Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act 53 of 1985, MISS, Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, and Firearm Control Act.
    • Labour Relations processes, PMDS, safety, and fire prevention.
  • Skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, report writing, and supervision.
  • No criminal record.

Key Duties:

  • Supervise internal and contracted security staff.
  • Manage access control to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce safety and security measures.
  • Inspect registers, SOPs, posts, and conduct walk-about inspections.
  • Ensure outsourced and in-house security comply with contracts.
  • Identify and report risks, threats, and faulty security systems (CCTV, turnstiles, security lights, alarms).
  • Administer the key control system and respond to alarms.
  • Handle conflict situations effectively.
  • Provide monthly staff data and incident reports to management.
  • Monitor and operate electronic security systems in the control room.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisors.
